Hey! You're dealing with a recurring issue with your Coolermaster ML 240 Atmos. The pump failure seems to be happening again, and the system behaves strangely after shutdowns—like overheating and erratic fan speeds. You mentioned the pump had a crackling sound, then shut down, and only one AIO tube was hot. That points to a possible pump or cooling system fault rather than just the AIO chip.

You're considering switching to a low-profile cooler like the Alpenföhn Black Ridge and wondering if it would perform similarly. For the 240 AIO models, some users find Alpenföhn or similar options work well, but others prefer more robust solutions. If you're looking for alternatives, the Asus ROG Loki 750W or the Master Liquid 240 are popular choices. Let me know if you want more details!

For maximum dependability Arctic is the best choice. If possible, go for the older Liquid Freezer II models or the latest III Pro units. Lian Li or Corsair would also work well. Cooler Master AIOs tend to have mixed longevity reports.
