Aiming to boost your 2600X to 4.0 or 4.2 GHz?
I'm handling a TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING board with 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM and a Ryzen 5 2600X. I'm just starting with overclocking and want to push it to 4.0 or 4.2. Anyone have advice on the best voltage settings? I've been searching online but haven't found clear guidelines. I was considering upgrading to a Ryzen 9 3900X, though it seems expensive right now.
You might want a more powerful power source to support the overclock attempt with your 650W unit.
I achieved the best speed with my 2600x at 4.3GHz and around 1.44 volts for stability. That’s quite high for me. Even at 4.2GHz it required a lot of voltage. I now keep mine at 4GHz with 1.24 volts. Anything above 4GHz seems to need significantly more power. This was on an Asus Prime Pro X470.
Ryzen 5 2600 (non-x) delivers 4.1Ghz at 1.31V (1.28V during heavy load) with memory overclocked. It runs cool thanks to a Dark Rock 4 in a 10-year-old case, reaching around 55°C while gaming. I configured the CPU voltage safely at 1.35V, but for long-term stability I suggest keeping it below 1.4V.
