Hello, my family often complains about weak Wi-Fi at home. Our house is big with three floors, and the main router is in the basement—it's not the best spot, but I need control since I live there. I'm using an old ASUS Dark Knight RNG N66U. I'm looking for used routers because they're affordable in Norway. Right now I'm checking the AC88U and AC3200, and I want to add AIMesh devices. One should be in the garage (2nd floor) and another on the first floor because my brother is frustrated with poor PS4 performance. Should I pick the cheapest AIMesh-compatible ones? How should they connect—should all go to the same switch or just one main router? My idea is to use the AC88U as the main controller and connect both AIMesh units to it.

Consider setting up the routers as access points or obtain them from a provider such as Ubiquiti. If they lack AP mode, connect the Ethernet cable to the LAN port, disable DHCP, and assign a static LAN IP. NOTE: I initially believed AiMesh was purely wireless; you'd just need to enable it. The routers you selected seem suitable, but I'm unsure if there are more optimal choices.
