hello i am completely new to pc builds so be careful
😛
just bought my first decent pc recently, it came with AI suite III (heard bad things)
i used the auto OC tools that came with it (looked nice)
my system became less stable after that, so i tried resetting it
nothing works, deleting AI suite, removing mobo battery, using the 2 pin reset on my mobo but it just keeps my damn OC
i’m really confused right now, tried every tutorial to get it back
so my question is, anyway, should i reset everything to default?
here are some details just in case
asus prime z270-k
i7 7700k
nvidia strix 1080 8gb
crucial 16gb at 2400 mhz

If you haven’t encountered any issues with Windows prior to installing the problematic software, then the issue likely lies with the software itself. Performing a fresh installation of Windows will eliminate all modifications the software introduced to your system settings.

Did you save your adjusted settings in the BIOS, then apply them and restart the system? That should restore everything to its original state.

Thanks for the advice
I've already tried similar steps like resetting CMOS, updating BIOS, and removing AI suite before that cleared everything in the registry editor. It looks like I just have to accept it—it seems tightly built into the AI tweaker. I learned a valuable lesson there; avoid using software OC.

Avoid keeping that issue by performing a fresh Windows setup and leaving your hardware untouched

I removed my SSD and looked at the BIOS, but it still showed the same settings. So would a Windows reinstall be useful? Probably worth trying, I think.

worth the attempt, getting everything ready now
i’ve got plenty of micro freezes so far, and before the auto OC I never faced any problems
just like in Witcher 3 after an OC, i had a crash a couple times during a short playtime, but never before with an OC
i’ll go ahead and reinstall then. i’ll let you know once it’s done
thanks for all the support
