Hi everyone, today I assisted my friend with his pre-built HP setup, but he encountered some black screen problems. The machine is an HP Pavilion Power Desktop 580-023w equipped with an i5-7400 processor, two 4GB DDR4 modules, a GTX 1060 graphics card, a 1TB SSD, a 300-watt power supply, and whatever HP motherboard he had. We replaced the PSU with a Corsair CX650M, upgraded the RAM to Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4, swapped in the Powercolor Hellhound RX 6600XT graphics card, and added a WD Blue SA510 1TB SATA SSD. The PC started up normally in Windows after the changes, and the old graphics drivers were removed while installing the new ones. The Issue: While playing games, the screen would briefly go black (audio still playing) for a few seconds, and the duration between blackouts seemed to shorten as the game continued. No warnings or error messages appeared in Event Viewer. What We Tried: We installed the latest AMD graphics drivers and the December drivers, but the problem continued. I assumed this would resolve it since I’d faced driver issues before, but it’s not working. I intend to perform a clean Windows install, update the BIOS (the newest one is from June 2018), and try installing even older drivers to see if that helps. Any additional tips for troubleshooting would be really helpful.

It looks like this HP prebuilt relies on standard connectors, which is a benefit. A fresh installation should improve reliability. Changing hardware without a full reinstall carries risk, so a clean setup is always wise. Good luck!
