After upgrading to Ryzen 7000, graphics card sensors may not function properly.
Hello, I recently moved from a 9900k to a Ryzen 9 7950X with an X670 AorusElite AX motherboard. Since then, the sensors on my EVGA 3080 Ti have been showing incorrect data. When idle or not using the GPU heavily, it displays a constant 60 degrees and 1800mhz clock. But when I start gaming, the GPU temperature rises above 60 degrees and clocks exceed 1800mhz, then it shows accurate readings—around 80 degrees and 1900+mhz during gameplay. In NZXT Cam, idle stats remain steady: temperatures and clocks stay unchanged, only slightly shifting. In HWINFO while idle, the numbers don’t move much, just a tiny change of about 0.1 degrees. I’m not sure if my upgrade caused this issue, but it’s the only change since then. Here’s what I know about my setup: I’m running Windows 11, BIOS updated to the latest version (around October 7, 2022), and using the Ryzen 9 7950X X670 Aorus Elite AX with the 3080 Ti graphics card. The stats above reflect what the GPU is actually reporting. I’m wondering if there’s a setting in BIOS or Windows that might be affecting this display. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The issue stemmed from using a PCIe Gen 3 vertical GPU mount. It wasn't properly communicating with my PCIe Gen 5 motherboard and Gen 4 GPU. Removing the mount resolved the problem.
