After upgrading the Ryzen 1600 to 3600, power issues persist.
Hi, I attempted to upgrade my wife's PC from a Ryzen 1600 to a 3600 and unfortunately bricked it. I’m open to suggestions on what else I should check or try. My wife’s machine has these specs: a Gigabyte AB350M-D3H-CF Ryzen 1600 with 16GB RAM (8x2, generic Corsair), a GTX 1080, two SSD drives. I followed Gigabyte’s BIOS upgrade guide and verified it worked before disassembling. It came with a Coolmaster 240L cooler and a pump that was showing signs of wear; I swapped it for the stock stealth cooler. After removal, the board was clean, but the CPU remained completely unresponsive—no fan activity or power indicators. I took it out and found two pins bent, which I bent back during reinstallation, but nothing changed. I tried reconnecting wires, adjusting RAM sticks one by one, and even removed the battery to see if it helped. The PSU was on, but nothing else seemed to react. I’m unsure what went wrong; I thought maybe the CPU was dead, but it should have given some sign of life. Could there be another issue I missed?
It could indicate a motherboard issue if the pins are bent. Even if they seem fine initially, they might be damaged. Additionally, it's possible the power button connections are reversed (negative to positive, positive to negative). You can test by using a screwdriver on the start button pins to complete the circuit. Edit: To verify if the problem lies with the pins, try running an old CPU to see if it boots again.
