Hello, I recently upgraded my GPU from a 1070 to a 3080 and my CPU from 2700X to a 5900X. I also increased my PSU from 650W to 850W. I use the machine for both gaming and work. I work in event lighting and do a lot of drawing and visualisation of lighting rigs. My main tool for that is Vectorworks. Now I’m experiencing an unusual problem where, during certain tasks, the machine completely crashes. It doesn’t show a BSOD; instead, the screen goes black, the backlight on my Corsair keyboard shuts off, and the hard drive status LED stops flashing. The system stays powered on and the fans continue to run. When I try to power it down by holding the power button for a while, it doesn’t work. The only solution is to cut power to the PSU, after which the PC boots up normally. What’s notable is that this happens at specific times. So far, I can easily recreate it by drawing a curtain in a light plot in Vectorworks. Not too complicated. Yesterday I was testing KallesFractaller, a program for calculating Mandelbrot fractals. I zoomed in briefly, then out, and it crashed. So far, I haven’t faced any issues while gaming, even with high settings for titles like Hogwarts Legacy... as the system should handle it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Thomas.

Did you refresh your BIOS? Were all connections altered during the PSU replacement?

Which power supply unit did you purchase? Have you updated the BIOS to ensure compatibility with the 5900X? What type of motherboard are you using?

PSU matches the EVGA SuperNova GT 850. My system uses an MSI B450 Gaming Plus. I refreshed the BIOS prior to adding the new CPU.

I upgraded my BIOS. All my hair styles were completely altered because the previous power supply had its wires attached to the device. The updated model features adjustable haircuts.
