I recently updated my system by switching from a GTX 750ti to a Zotac GTX 1050ti and installing a new Thermaltake 500W power supply. Following this upgrade, I installed Windows 7. Upon booting, my Dell E2014H monitor displayed a resolution of 1024x788, a change from the previous recommended setting of 1600x900, despite using an HDMI to VGA adapter. After installing all drivers and configuring settings, I tested the system's performance with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which now exhibits severe lag with average frame rates of 20-30. The overall system performance has also deteriorated significantly. I am seeking assistance to identify the cause of these issues.

PC SPECS:
Processor: Intel i3 4150
Display adapter: Zotac GTX 1050ti 4GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HDD: Seagate 1TB
Monitor: Dell E2014H

HDMI to VGA is somewhat unusual and potentially problematic, with an uncertain impact on frame rates. Have you reviewed your CSGO settings to determine if the game automatically suggested higher graphics options due to a GPU change? While this wouldn't account for overall system lag, it’s a possibility. The graphics card *might* be defective, but it's not confirmed yet. Some 1050ti graphics cards, particularly those overclocked, require external power, though some do not. The 1050ti’s power requirement is 75W, and the PCI slot provides up to 75W. Is your graphics card plugged into the top PCIe slot, rather than one below? This could be a contributing factor.

You mentioned installing all drivers, did you obtain them directly from the manufacturer’s website? https://www.geforce.com/drivers Windows 7 often requires manual driver searching due to automatic updates, so it’s essential to check for motherboard compatibility as well. Ensure your monitor is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard’s onboard graphics (if applicable).

I see you stated that you installed all necessary drivers, did you obtain them directly from the manufacturers website? https://www.geforce.com/drivers Windows 7 often struggles with automatically installing newer drivers, requiring manual searching. Ensure your drivers are updated for your motherboard as well. Confirm that your monitor is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboards onboard graphics (if present). Yes, all drivers are sourced from their respective manufacturers’ websites and the monitor is connected to the GPU using an HDMI-to-VGA adapter. Could my graphics card be defective? I have tested it using MSI Afterburner and did not detect any issues.

HDMI to VGA presents a peculiar configuration and might exhibit unexpected behavior regarding frame rates. It’s unclear whether this conversion would affect FPS, but you should verify CSGO settings to determine if the game suggested elevated graphics options due to a GPU change. While a faulty GPU is possible, it may not fully account for the reported overall system lag. Certain 1050ti graphics cards, frequently overclocked, necessitate external power connections despite a maximum power requirement of 75W – a value supplied by the PCI slot. Confirm your graphics card is connected to the top PCIe slot; this could be a contributing factor.

User Samar experienced performance problems following the installation of a new GPU (Zotac GTX 1050ti) and power supply (Thermaltake 500W). Prior to these changes, his Dell E2014H monitor displayed a resolution of 1600x900, using an HDMI to VGA adapter. After the upgrade, the monitor resolution dropped to 1024x788, and CSGO performance degraded significantly, with average frame rates falling between 20 and 30, resulting in overall system lag. The PC specifications include an Intel i3-4150 processor, Zotac GTX 1050ti graphics card, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and a Seagate 1TB hard drive.

It is a new or used card. A used card will be verified using GPuz to ensure it is not counterfeit.
