I purchased a Ryzen 5 5500 to swap in for my 3200G, I double checked my BIOS before fitting the new processor onto a B450 motherboard. The board model is an Asus Prime-A/CSM. According to Asus, BIOS version 2409 should have been appropriate for the Ryzen 5000, which I installed. I've experimented with several fixes—removing RAM sticks one at a time, ensuring proper connections, and confirming my GPU was linked to the monitor. When I power on, fans spin, and the board lights up, but I see nothing on screen. I'm stuck and need guidance.

Specs: CPU – Ryzen 5 5500; GPU – GTX 1650; RAM – Crucial Ballistic 2x 8GB; Motherboard – Asus Prime-A/CSM; Storage – NVMe WD Blue S550 500GB; Secondary – 2.5TB Crucial MX500; Power supply – Thermaltake Smart 500W.

No need to modify the initial release for your processor. Upgrade to the newest BIOS version.

Consider reinstalling your old CPU if you want the latest model. The Asus Ez Flash 3 update pushed you to version 2409, so checking compatibility is key.

Occasionally the newest models can't work with older chips, but he might attempt the last version that works with both his old and current chips.

If you can't upload, you'll need to use your older CPU. I assisted a friend with a Ryzen 5 5600 on a B450; we just applied the newest BIOS and it functioned properly.

The 5000 series isn’t mentioned anywhere in the release notes. It’s the latest version the board can handle.

I haven't looked at the release notes, but sometimes they leave out older CPUs in newer BIOS versions to free up space on AM4 boards once they're fully packed.

Be mindful of installation and you can work with your old CPU without thermal paste if only for BIOS flashing. Avoid heavy workloads or benchmarks, as they may cause issues... Do you have another machine to try it on? A completely dead CPU is also an option. Good luck!
