SAM functions exclusively with 6xxx series cards. It's unclear if this setup will integrate properly with an APU.
I believe the warning on the ASRock site was misunderstood. If you haven't yet upgraded to a BIOS version compatible with the 5000 G-series CPUs such as the 5700G, you must use one of the three supported CPU architectures to upgrade to a version that does. If your BIOS already supports the 5600G, it doesn't affect the process and you can proceed further. No, they didn't make this change—it was originally a key selling feature of the 6000 series, though it wasn't later ported to the older RX 5000 lineup.
I did not, no, would that be something I need to quickly enable after turning everything else back on for it to be stable? Also since I only have a 5000 series processor, I think the point is moot anyway. I think when I heard that there was support for the 5000 series GPUs, I took it to mean anything 5000, GPU or CPU was supported for SAM now. Looks like it might not be the case and I am just SOL until the hype for the newest and best subsides and they extend support.
You can verify it. I don’t anticipate this will lead to stability problems, though you can’t be sure. Also, are you using the newest drivers? The Ryzen 5000 were among the first CPUs to do so. Seems most modern Intel or AMD chips support it now. However, the 5700G could behave differently, which is uncertain.
SAM represents AMD's branding for resizable bar interfaces, which should work. A BIOS update is recommended, as suggested. ASRock's warning seems unclear; they advise against updating unless your CPU matches certain requirements. After updating, switching to a Ryzen 5000 G-Series processor is possible since you already have one and are on that series. You'll need both a compatible CPU and GPU—Ryzen 3xxx and 5xxx are supported, but the Vega-based iGPU in the 5700G may be outdated compared to newer RX series GPUs. Consider trying again after a BIOS update. 5700x or 5700g—do you use its integrated graphics or a dedicated GPU?
It seems you're referring to a specific hardware configuration. Could you clarify what you need about this setup?
To obtain the newest ASRock BIOS for your board (model 2.30), you're asking if you don't need any of the listed CPUs. I interpreted it as needing to use one of those specific processors, but I actually used to do so and now own a different system. If updating to this BIOS version still causes problems with BAR enabled, other factors might be contributing to the instability. I've experienced similar issues after upgrading to B550 and 5700G, especially with audio problems.
