After switching the GPU, no image appears.
My setup includes an Asrock H470m-HDV with 2x8GB RAM, G.Skill Aegis DDR4 3000 GHz, an i5-10400F processor, a Quit PURE ROCK slim 2 CPU cooler, Corsair CV550, and Windows 11. My issue: I needed to switch my GPU from the RX 570 to the RTX 3050. Initially, I removed the AMD drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller. After that, the PC would shut down, and once it restarted, I installed the RTX 3050. However, when I tried to boot, there was no image displayed—no BIOS menu or anything. Switching back to the RX 570 worked normally. I reattempted removing the drivers, changed them again, but still got nothing. I also tried installing Nvidia drivers while the RX 570 was installed, which failed. Then I switched the GPU once more and now there’s no image at all, not with either GPU. The screen is blank, BIOS options are missing, and nothing appears. It’s important to note I don’t have an integrated graphics card. Solutions I’ve tried: resetting CMOS, using different monitors or cables (HDMI and DP), booting with just one RAM stick, rearranging cables. The PCIe slot looks fine, and nothing seems physically damaged. No solution has worked so far. Since I don’t have spare parts and no one nearby can help, I’m stuck.
The Corsair CV550 has only the GPU cable connected, and it’s functioning properly for more than a year without any adapters or issues. The system is using an 8-pin connection.
Disconnecting all storage drives, cooling units, and fans, then powering on the PC using only CPU, motherboard, and GPU connections, will help identify the problem. If it works, the issue lies elsewhere; if not, narrow down whether the fault is with the old GPU or another component, possibly a motherboard issue. If the old GPU also becomes unusable, the likely cause is a motherboard configuration or fault.
Turned off all SATA equipment and fans, but the issue persisted. Used a bootable USB drive, yet it didn’t help. When I connected the HMDI cable, the monitor checked the connection. After reinserting it, it switched to power-saving mode immediately.
Thank you for the details. This seems to point to a motherboard problem. Did you reset the CMOS by adjusting a jumper or removing the battery? If you used the battery, did you power down the PSU first? Also, were your RAM modules correctly aligned? It would be a good idea to verify that.
Battery connected and yes, the power supply was removed. RAM is correctly placed, verified several times.
Did you connect the XX power supply pins to the graphics card? Occasionally I overlook this step and don’t see any display until I do it correctly.
