I just purchased a CAT 8 Ethernet cable and immediately experienced lag spikes, with ping jumping from 80-120 instead of the usual 10.

It seems unusual. Did you verify that everything is connected properly? If you haven’t updated your NIC or switch, there shouldn’t be any discrepancies.

The upgrade was made for better compatibility and performance consistency across the network. The current setup doesn’t match the new standard, so switching helped. CAT8 isn’t available in UTP cables yet—only S/FTP exist, which don’t always work well together. Each type is suited to different needs.

I upgraded my cable because the previous one missed a part at one end. It still worked but i just wanted to upgrade because sometimes the wifi would cut out because of that missing part.

The issue isn't the small notch securing the Ethernet cable, wouldn't it? The solution would have been using an RJ-45 connector and simply reattaching the damaged section rather than swapping the whole cable.

I understand if there are multiple cables involved. The price for a crimper and jacks exceeds just one cable, but using a factory-made cable would save time compared to fixing a faulty end with NEXT.

It's really tough to cut cables and secure connectors. Doing it properly requires a lot of expertise.

My motor abilities aren't great, but crafting Ethernet cables can be manageable with the right tools. It's not overly complicated, especially if you're working with basic equipment.

I acquired an EZ-RJ45 crimper but the cutter failed soon after connecting several terminals. I’m looking for a reliable, branded alternative.

I once adjusted my own connections, particularly when setting up wiring in the home. However, I started purchasing ready-made cables from stores whenever I needed them, which reduced the need to use a cable tester and saved time on faulty connections.
