I've been running a 10GBE card on my main PC without any problems. I'm planning to switch to Linux as my primary OS so I'll be dual booting. During Debian setup it didn't automatically detect the card, so I told it to use one of the motherboard's built-in NICs, which meant I had to connect an Ethernet cable and later install drivers. Even though I knew this specific card was recognized without needing downloads on my Proxmox server before, things have changed now. Windows can't connect to the internet through either NIC anymore, and the card isn't even listed in BIOS. The PCI-E slot looks empty. I also have a second identical card installed, but it still doesn't work. Debian seems to be using the motherboard's NIC without issues. This is puzzling—I don't understand how it could happen. My only thought is that the Debian installation might have altered my motherboard's firmware. EDIT: I recently added a second M.2 SSD for Debian just before this problem appeared. Could it be a PCI-E lane limitation? My board is the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK?

Upgrading to a second M.2 drive in M2_2 removes the remaining PCIe slot (PCI_E3). The solution is using a M.2 to PCIe adapter and connecting it to PCI_E4.
