After installing a new graphics card, the CPU and DRAM LEDs begin to light up.
Hello. I own an older setup: an MB Asus P8P67 Pro with an Intel i7 2600k, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB), and a Power Corsair HX650. The graphics card was a GeForce GTX 980 Ti. All functions worked well for years. Recently, I upgraded to the RTX 4090, swapping in the new GPU. Everything functioned normally afterward.
Now I'm considering bringing back the old graphics card temporarily to test something in games. After doing so, the PC failed to boot. Once it started, the CPU and DRAM LEDs kept flashing, and there was no display signal at all. I tried removing the battery for a while but didn't notice any difference. After reinstalling the 4090, the issue persisted with the same LED behavior.
I'm unsure what caused this problem after replacing the GPU. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ahead!
Hi. Your power supply is significantly below its recommended capacity for a 4090, you should aim for around 850W. It's already working well so far, but pushing it this hard might lead to problems down the line. It could have eventually damaged other components. Hopefully it's not that bad. If I were in your shoes, I’d replace the PSU right away, test your existing parts with it, and make sure everything functions properly.
