Attempted to upgrade my old 9600k to Gigabyte Z390 gaming for Windows 11. Followed all instructions to activate secure boot, but it failed—system froze and wouldn’t power on properly. Lights appeared only when the PSU was active, and fans started but didn’t produce any beeps. Now I have a new motherboard, but everything still doesn’t work. The screen goes black completely except for CPU and RAM showing up on the onboard video. I’m wondering if secure boot interfered with the CPU. I plan to try a BIOS recovery flash since it worked for someone else. Any other tips?

This could feel a bit unusual, but I've encountered similar issues on three different platforms recently. When you press the power button, the device powers up but remains blank, and fans begin to spin. Debug LEDs light up briefly before freezing, possibly indicating VGA or GPU activity. Your monitor reports it can't detect anything. If this matches your experience, let me know.

The previous board lacked debug LEDs. The new board includes a memory test LED that remains active. I could attempt to extract the memory to check for a post. Edit: standard RAM doesn’t produce the expected beep. I tried with a single stick but no improvement. Did you manage to resolve it without adding new hardware?

These z390 boards received a BIOS update around 2019-2020 to enable TPM2.0 installation, making them compatible with Windows 10. A BIOS reset might turn off Secure Boot, so a BIOS update should restore functionality. Look for a BIOS update option.

Inspect the case wires and verify the correct orientation of the + and - terminals for CMOS clearing. Remove the RAM one at a time from each slot. Ensure your PSU cables are securely connected before proceeding. Allow the system to stabilize for about 10 minutes to avoid performance issues.

Removed the ram and attempted to start, received beeps. Replaced one stick at a time and finally got a response. Everything seems fine now… Probably some unusual situation occurred. Appreciate your help!
