So far, my Steam setup has worked well for downloading games and updates. I had the games pre-installed on my SSD, which seems to have helped. Recently, when I tried updating Cyberpunk 2077, the CPU kept hitting maximum usage unexpectedly. After unplugging the SSD, the problem disappeared. I suspect it’s related to both Steam and the SSD—sometimes Steam crashes during updates and then the system returns to around 20% usage. My PC specs are an i5-12600k, RTX 2080 Super, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. Additionally, opening MSI Center causes it to crash too. I mainly use MSI components and my motherboard is from MSI.

Could your current setup with four drives—two HDDs and two NVMe SSDs—be influencing the issue?

It might indicate an issue with the SSD. I’d remove every SSD except the one you’re using and the boot drive, then attempt to download again.
