My computer specs
I7 13700k
MSI Z690 edge with WiFi DDR4
Asus ROG 4070Ti
After copying this person's undervolting guide, my system shut down permanently and won't restart. I tried bridging the jbat1 to reset the CMOS, but it didn't help.

I'm unable to locate the battery's position. I reviewed the motherboard manual, but it only mentions the battery location once.

page 17 displays an overlay of the motherboard. The battery is located between the first and second PCIe slots. The file can be downloaded from the provided link. It's likely positioned near your GPU or very close to its front edge. The Premium PCB Arrow seems to be pointing directly at it here. The round object is the battery.

I managed to locate and remove the battery. Unfortunately, it didn’t have any effect. After reconnecting all the cables and attempting to power it on, only a faint click was heard. I’m not sure whether the noise comes from the board or the PSU.

It seems the previous settings were reset unexpectedly. Were you checking the latest BIOS updates? It might help if a new one was installed. Page 38 of the manual suggests doing this with just the PSU connected. I tend to avoid changing BIOS settings, as things can go wrong either way. Following online guides can sometimes lead to problems. I'm aware of that myself.

Thanks! I'll definitely try flashing bios in the morning. It's getting too late and I don't want to wake up my roommates, haha. I'll keep you updated! Appreciate your help again!

Take it off the plug for the night and attempt to turn it back on in the morning, worth a shot.
Check if anyone else has suggestions before you go through the bios update.

I'm certain battery removal techniques aren't effective on some modern MBs even after a day or year, leaving the BIOS settings unchanged. Using a metal object such as a ballpoint pen nib or a metal stick can shorten the CMOS pin, allowing all BIOS data to be cleared. Remember, CMOS is only for date and time, not for storing BIOS information.
