I chose to swap out the thermal paste on my 10-year-old Lenovo prebuilt (CIH81M). When it was time to power it up, it wouldn't start. All connections were intact and the motherboard appeared to receive power. The CPU cooler was also securely installed. Need assistance!

You likely hit the RAM. Re-seating it should resolve the issue.

Ensure the CPU fan header is securely fastened. If needed, gently remove and reinsert it several times for a solid connection.

Consider reinstalling the CPU and ensuring you press the button. If it still doesn’t help, maybe everything is misplaced and it’s safe to assume the CPU could be damaged. That would be the worst outcome unfortunately.

This might be a stretch, but do you perhaps have a Buzzer hanging around? It might help single out the specific issue you're encountering

Check for any leftover thermal paste on the motherboard, as it might have spread and caused a short circuit. Let me know if you need further assistance.

I don't believe that's a significant chance. I prefer not to alarm people with extreme predictions, unless it's meant to be funny.

Of course, I understand. Just wanted to mention all the options. But hopefully it won’t come up later.
