Hi,
I adjusted my Asus rog strix gtx 1080 a bit, which is about 5-6%, but I don’t want to set the fan manually. I prefer auto fan mode. When it’s not using the fan, I’d like it to stay off. However, with manual mode, it runs continuously even when the system is idle. I’m curious if this is safe to keep the fan on auto after overclocking.
Adjust the fan curve to suit your needs in afterburner mode. The standard fan profile works too. 72c is suitable for the desired load temperature.
It should work well, your GPU will be set to adjust fan speed when it heats up. Most GPUs don’t begin spinning until they hit a specific temperature (usually around 55 or 60 degrees). Just keep it on Auto for now, keep an eye on the GPU temps, and tweak manually if you notice temperatures rising too much. However, most GPUs can handle high heat without any issues.
My card stays in the 55-65 range. I always play vsync, but it drops to about 70-72 on 4K. I believe it's a normal temperature for this setup. Now I've overclocked the card and will verify the updated maximum readings.
