Hey there, just got some new RAM (Skill Ripjaws v3000 CL-15) but when I turn on the XMP profile games they often freeze after a few minutes. The system just shuts down and jumps to desktop. Disabling XMP helps but then it runs at 2133 MHz Sad. I ran a memory test and everything looks fine. I increased the voltage to 1.4V while XMP was on and games ran longer (5-10 min), but still crashed eventually. After that, lowering the frequency to 2866 fixed it at first, though now it crashes after about 1-2 hours. Normal apps work just okay. My setup: Ryzen 5 2600 and ASUS Prime B350 M-A motherboard.

Besides the out-of-spec problems like XMP overclocking, you should check Ryzen and CL15 (an odd number) for performance data. Search for GEARDOWN MODE and note any observations or fixes that might help. I’ll keep exploring but need to focus on another task soon.

Did you align RAM sticks correctly into the second and fourth slots on the CPU? Also, make sure to update the BIOS, install the AMD chipset driver, and refresh Windows.

I noticed Ryzen doesn't support CL15, so I'll test CL16 at 2933MHz to see what happens.

Bios is now the most recent release. On my motherboard, it appears in the first and third CPU slots, labeled as DIMM A1 and B1.

I possess that motherboard, specifically the second and fourth CPU slots which are essential.

Cl 15 has some limitations, though the imc isn’t sufficient for high latency. Adjust the DRAM to 1.34–35, set the SOC to 1.1, and test with 2933. I can’t ensure anything above 2933, but it’s still a possibility.

I also understood this, still the same issues persist.

I attempted to configure the settings as 16-16-16-35 from 15-16-16-35, but it triggers a blue screen error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" during gameplay. Turning off gear down mode causes posting issues and forces a CMOS reset.
