Microsoft has claimed Windows 10 upgrades would be free for a year, but a tech-savvy friend mentioned it might become a paid monthly subscription after that period. I need to verify this and understand what comes next. Let me know if you'd like updates on the situation. Thanks, Josh_Grid21

I believe the operating system costs after a year. However, purchasing within a year grants you 10 free years to use, and it seems upgrades are also included at no extra charge.

Tech-savvy perhaps, though not fully experienced—they’re promoting it as a means to stay current for those who need it, rather than pushing the switch from an outdated OS to a newer version later.

That’s correct. If someone purchases Windows 10 beyond the initial year, they typically won’t face ongoing monthly charges unless they opt for a subscription plan.

the main concern is whether they provide a Windows 10 product key that can be upgraded separately for people who frequently reinstall Windows.
