After reinstalling Windows, you may need to adjust settings in the registry, disable specific services, or turn off certain programs to ensure everything works properly.
I begin by navigating to Settings and customizing Windows to my preferences. I disable suggestions from the Start Menu and adjust the interface to display only live tiles, keeping the full app list reachable via a button—similar to older Windows start menus but more streamlined. Next, I access the Folder Options panel (Start > type: Folder Options), then adjust the "Open File Explorer to:" setting to "This PC." I remove the checkboxes for "Show recently used files in Quick Access" and "Show frequently used folders in Quick access." Under the "View" tab, I disable "Hide extensions for known file types," "Show sync provider notifications," and finally add frequently used folders to the left side of File Explorer by dragging them in. This completes the setup. I mostly use my Surface, though these steps apply specifically to my system.
First I adjust my screen settings, then I download Chrome. From there I install the GPU drivers, Steam, Spotify, and Discord. That’s roughly all done.
