Looking for the most affordable options to run your 7950X3D in a gaming server setup. You're considering the 87E, MSI PRO A620M-E at around 82 euros and a 12M 550W ATX power supply.

It’s likely you’ll enjoy using top CPU options from AMD on one of the least ideal motherboards for that socket. Consider selling your CPU and focus on setting a budget instead.

For the best setup, the B650M-HDV/M.2 board is ideal. A620 models are budget-friendly but often suffer from poor VRM and power delivery, leading to lower performance compared to B650s—avoid them unless essential. The 7950X3D PSU should work fine, though the GPU usually matters more than the power supply.

I reviewed your message and understood your concern about the system setup. You mentioned needing clarity on your intentions regarding the CPU sale and budget, which is important for maintaining trust. Your reference to the A620 boards highlights your awareness of power delivery limitations, and your idea about a doubled 4+2 configuration shows you're thinking about performance optimization. I aimed to keep the explanation clear and focused on your goals.

It doesn’t make any sense to run a 7950X3D as a game server since most servers don’t gain much from such high cache. You could sell that unit and use the proceeds to buy a better CPU, a more powerful motherboard, additional RAM, or extra storage.

That setup isn't ideal for a game server. It's likely an inefficient CPU choice. I'd go ahead and purchase a full PC for around $400-$500, which would probably perform better.

Proxmox with several game servers... the processor is fine enough, honestly.
