Consider boosting line load calibration even though you're operating at high voltage; it might still drop under load, especially on a primary board where the VRRMS won't perform well. Monitor your voltage during benchmarks since it can decrease significantly—like dropping from 1.5V.

I continuously track my voltage levels and they remain stable. In fact, they aren't showing significant drops. However, when I touch the heatsink of the VRM, it gets quite warm during high loads—possibly around 5.1GHz at 1.5V and 5.2GHz. At that point, the heat becomes excessive and may cause a sudden shutdown if pushed beyond its limit. Anything below 1.5V seems to trigger an immediate crash. I suspect this could be related to the increased load from the new fans I just purchased (4x40mm, similar to the ones on my RAM). I plan to test them on the VRM and see if it improves performance. By the time they reach my home, I’ll adjust the load line calibration and keep you updated. Thanks for the advice!

Another idea suggests it was tested at 1.44V, possibly causing minor CPU issues. Overclocking still relies on luck with the chip manufacturing process.

i don't believe it has deteriorated because now I can run it higher, quicker and more reliably than before. I didn't need to boost the voltage to keep the same frequency for long. Of course, it's mostly silicon luck and hardware selection, plus a bit of skill and random chance. I might never reach 5.2GHz even with full custom cooling, but it feels like a mini-dream. I had to push it up by 1GHz over the base clock.

Ditto, Ive seen people with 1.37v @ 5.2Ghz and good binned 9900k's. If you need 1.5v and still can't get it stable then just be happy with 5Ghz turbo. Your risking sh*T something might blow up at 1.5v ...... Like posted above you would need the sH*T on ice.

others think it's completely different from the i9 9900k. there are no similarities in cores, architecture, or clock speed. it's two generations behind, using soldered IHS versus an i7 that's older by two generations. don't worry about the risk—it's not worth it if it stops working. i won’t be stuck without my computer for days.

Quick Update, I DID Got it to 5.2GHz WITHOUT changing ANY hardware, i disabled Hyper Threading and it passed a cinebench r15 twice and a cinebench r20 all of them in a row, it's now passing a pcmark extended since that's where it seams to crash for somes most of my OC when i try to get it stable. it doesn't go over 75c max peak, it's mostly arroynd the 70c while cinebench r20 is running The reason why i disabled Hyper Threading is because of the new Zombieload thing so i tought "Naaah just to be safe why not" and i also watched the performence hit and for what i do, i shouldn't really see a difference BUT With all of that said, i would love to get it working with hyper threading because the benchmark do use Hyper Thread a lot *Edit* i even got it to 5.3GHz fully stable at 1.504V without hyper threading Edited May 22, 2019 by tiwill0v2

pretty sure no one will see this but just for archive sake(i hate when i find a forum post with the exact question i got and the person doesn't reply in the end to say what worked.) been running my 7700k at [email protected] ever since this post, been using my pc around 60h/week on average. it didn't blew up, but i did end-up with somes problems recently. Here's the story of the 7700k that last his life running at 1.480V ->the first instance of instability get back to about 10month ago, my pc kept crashing in random circonstances, like when i would play a game and do precicely somes thing it would crash, and game that i could make it crash the most relibely was Bloons TD 6 so it wasn't because it's a super cpu intensive game. so i ended up dropping my overclock to 5.00GHz didn't changed the 1.480V it wasn't crashing after that so i chucked it to "i ran too close to the sun and burnt my self" thinking my cou had degraded. ->about 2weeks ago, i get to open my pc and it just doesn't post at all, i unplug everything(there was the aio pump, 2 fans, the 24pin, the 8pin cpu, display port, mouse and keyboard plugged in that's it) didn't started, tryed to do a CMOS reset not working so i really thought my cpu died. now i received a new cpu(i3 7350k) and it still doesn't work so i'm now thinking that it's probably my motherboard, i was so focused on the stress the overclock put on the cpu that i overlocked all the tiny components on the board that could of die the same way. so in the end, as a resume, i still don't know for sh*t if my cpu degraded or if it was just my motherboard that started to break 10month ago and finaly died 2weeks ago... will buy a new motherboard to confirm soon lmao p.s. for those looking into using an overclock like this daily, don't you'll break stuff in the most random ass moment and you'll endup like me waiting for parts for a couples weeks because when it endup breaking it's not available anywhere at a resonable price exept for ebay with 2-4weeks shiping... smh. Or if you do endup reading this and still do it, then you'll be warned, you'll definately endup degrading your components faster and they will need replacements faster. p.p.s. for those not tracking time, i bought this setup 6 years ago, 5years ago i started doing overclock and when i made this original post(4years ago) my pc had been runing at 1.480V for about 6month already so it took about 4-5years for something to break(depending if you count the initial problem 10month ago or not), considering that a pc that doesn't get overclock have an average life span of about 8-12years(let's say 10 for easy number) it means i reduced the life of my pc by about half by running it on the bleading edge.
