I’m preparing a concise summary here. I’m aiming to achieve consistent performance around 5.2GHz on my i7 7700K (full parts list available later). I need just a bit more stability—currently I run smoothly at 5.1GHz @1.440V, but 5.2GHz isn’t reliable even at higher voltages. I tried pushing it to 5.2GHz and managed stable tests with Cinebench R15, though the system would freeze during longer sessions. I changed the CPU cooler, added liquid metal between the die and pump, and upgraded components like the GPU, RAM, and SSD. I’m also experimenting with BIOS settings for overclocking and core voltage adjustments. If you know more about tuning these parameters, it would be great to hear them. I’m open to suggestions and ready to test further.
I didn't intend to keep it running nonstop, so I'm planning to purchase a fully custom water cooling system first. Before that, I just need to test benchmarks and aim for a score around 5.2GHz. It's all about setting a personal record, xd
Thanks, yeah it's big. If you pay attention, my fourth monitor doesn't even fit on the desk in terms of space. From a power standpoint, that's fine—it has an 8-pin connector with an 850-watt PSU. I'm well within the limits, even with the GPU overclocked and maximum RAM usage, it stays under 450 watts and I'm pushing it.
You can only put the radiator in ice or dry ice if the pipes are sufficiently long.
That's quite a jump! I wasn't even close to that power level. My setup is just an optiplex 780 with 8GB RAM and an AMD Radeon HD5450. It still has trouble running Fallout New Vegas. I should definitely learn more about this stuff—I'm used to using 300 watts of power supplies.
I previously covered that topic but I’d like to try conventional cooling instead. Thanks, though—I might just test it for fun to see how far I can push it without using LN2. I’m more focused on finding a stable BIOS setting rather than tweaking cache ratios. I don’t have much research on its effects, but I’ll give it a shot.
