Advise on utilizing PC and TV in separate rooms
Hello,
I currently have a Dell Monitor linked to a laptop in my office.
I also own a desktop PC connected to a TV via HDMI in my bedroom.
I mainly use the PC for gaming with a PS4 controller using Bluetooth (connected through a USB adapter).
However, I’d like to connect this PC to my Dell monitor in the office so I can play games using a mouse and keyboard.
The two rooms are about 5 meters apart (from the monitor to the TV).
My main concerns are:
- I could pass cables through wall pipes, but an HDMI cable might be too thick for the setup.
- I’m unsure which HDMI RJ45 extension would work best for gaming with low latency.
- If I move the PC to my bedroom, I’d need a reliable wireless mouse and keyboard to avoid delays in the office.
I don’t know of a good wireless option either.
I’m not sure if there’s another way to connect the desktop PC to the monitor without using wireless.
I hope you can help me with some ideas or share experiences about this situation.
Thanks!
In a bedroom setting, my approach would involve placing the gaming PC in the office area as well, so it can be used after finishing work. I've experienced a situation where the gaming machine generated excessive heat and noise, and there was also a large advertisement board at night, which disturbed my sleep because I prefer to rest without lights.
Thank you for your response!
My initial idea was clear, but I had to think about a few points:
1. The office lacks air conditioning, while my bedroom has it. Since I live in a very hot area, ensuring the PC gets proper cooling seems important.
2. Placing the desktop in the office would require using the PS4 controller via Bluetooth in the bedroom, which would need a range over 5 meters and through walls and doors. I’m unsure if such a setup is feasible.
Regarding noise and light, it doesn’t bother me much. I used to have this desktop in my bedroom, so I’m accustomed to its sound.
