I would inquire about the purpose of using the PC, specifically for gaming, work programs, and which work programs are relevant.
It's a very good question.
Knowing the aim is to run Windows 11 makes it even better.
My budget i3 12100 handles Win 11 well, especially in moderate tasks, and the performance is quite satisfying.
Another point is that I wouldn't waste money on i7s since some i3 and i5 models from the 12/13/14 generation are quite competitive.
But this all comes down to what you plan to use the computer for.
So, what are your needs?
It's mostly used for gaming—lots of FPS content and some YouTube uploads—to keep the build costs down while still having room for expansion later. I'm working to meet the 11 restrictions but also maintaining a good setup for my needs right now without swapping out my current gear just yet.
What resolution and refresh rate are you employing or would you like to employ?
I believe my mobile device doesn't support any model beyond my i7 770k.
I mostly rely on 1080 144fps, my RTX2060 generally performs well there...
Yeah, I believe you'll get by with the AsRock Riptide I recommended, or the Pro RS SkyNetRising as well. I’d recommend a 12400 or 12600K CPU, whichever is more affordable. 12400 should be sufficient. Consider upgrading the CPU in a few years, and upgrade the RAM beforehand. You might even consider replacing the 2060 with a 4060. You’ll have choices, but avoid purchasing an outdated CPU—it won’t boost performance much. It’s better to focus on a solid motherboard instead.
