Advice needed on PC boot looping ?
I changed the thermal paste yesterday and faced several issues with a black screen, so I removed the CMOS battery for a reset. After five minutes, I replaced it and now the PC is constantly booting on and off without BIOS, and I have to unplug the power cable to stop this cycle.
I’m trying to explore different solutions since I have some extra money, considering an upgrade.
Current configuration:
- Asrock B450 Steel Legend.
- CPU: Ryzen 5 - 5500.
Possible choices:
1. I attempt to fix the problem but don’t know what to do.
2. Upgrading my PC would cost around $500 or more.
3. Intel Core Ultra 7.
4. Buying a Mac Mini 4 and moving my current drives to a NAS.
My needs:
- Video editing and encoding.
- Photo editing.
- No gaming.
Hi, it appears the motherboard is power cycling, which should happen after resetting the CMOS as you've done. It may take a few minutes to complete the cycle. Once finished, it will shut off and restart on its own, resetting the configuration to default, then POSTing and booting into Windows. The board is retraining the RAM and verifying all hardware before starting the POST and OS boot. Allow a few minutes for the full power cycle; after that, it should boot automatically. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you notice any red lights on the CPU or VGA LEDs during startup, or if it still doesn't boot. If everything is green, you're all set.
Thanks for the update. I thought the problem was related to RAM, so I reinserted it again. Now it's booting and working fine except for a black screen. I connected a DVI cable to the motherboard and GPU, but nothing changed. If anyone can assist, I'm really unsure how to proceed. Thank you!
