Advice for laptop expert PC specialist
Hi there, I set up a laptop from PC Specialist and it's a 17-inch Recoil Series RTX 4090 with an i913900HX, 1TB M.2 and 32GB RAM (2560x1600). I'm curious about the build quality and temperatures, even though they have a 2-year warranty. Any recommendations? Thanks.
I am not familiar with them and attempting to access the website always results in access denied. That’s a warning sign for me.
Still, I have purchased from boutique PC resellers. Sager, using Clevo chassis, offering both desktop and laptop custom configurations. It’s not unusual for me to be unaware of such options in the US (it seems they’re based in the UK).
But please do your research and check if everything is legitimate. I would read reviews, but my prior experience is what matters most to me.
Thank you for your inquiry. I'm also keen on the Recoil series; it seems to be a relatively recent release. Some past reviews mentioned that cooling isn't ideal, but this new model offers liquid cooling for purchase separately, costing around 150 euros. I believe it's worth considering since other reviews suggest the Recoil series can overheat.
I owned a laptop from them several years back (£2K, i7 4700MQ dedicated GTX, 2x 2.5hdd slots +1 ssd+DVD that could fit another HDD).
Yes, I could fit three HDDs and one M.Sata SSD without any issues.
It served me well for five years until it suddenly stopped after connecting a USB light (probably a short circuit).
I was really pleased until then. There aren’t many "spare repair" PC Specialist laptops on eBay, so I was just unlucky.
It might have been a light that acted like a "USB KILLER" or cheap capacitors on the PC Specialist motherboard.
My motherboard failed, but because it was such a reliable laptop and never broke down within five years (which is about 50% of other models), I still recommend PC SPECIALIST.
Your specs look good too.
