Hi everyone,

My friend is planning to set up a new system for Adobe PS/Illustrator. The budget is capped at £1250, and they’re aiming for the most cost-effective solution possible. I’ve been working on a configuration, but it’s been a while since I assembled anything similar. From my quick search, I think Adobe PS/Illustrator depends on:
- A solid single-core CPU (preferably Intel)
- Ample RAM
- Nvidia GPUs – they seem more reliable for Adobe work. I chose the 3060 with 12GB over the 4060 because of the need for a 4K monitor and the expectation that VRAM will play a bigger role than raw GPU speed, especially for hardware acceleration and AI features.
- Fast storage – some suggest using two separate SSDs for better bandwidth (main drive plus a scratch drive), but Adobe recommends just one fast SSD.

If anyone has any suggestions or alternative builds, or if you have tips on part swaps, I’d really appreciate it!

Adobe and Adobe PS/illustrator are highlighted in particular. Most software makers list hardware needs for each product, usually as "minimal," "recommended," or "best." You aim beyond the minimal, seeking the best possible within budget. It seems you have already addressed this to some degree. Additional suggestions: Avoid cutting corners on the PSU. Buy a reputable PSU with strong ratings and positive reviews. Reference: Three quick points: 1) Gain deeper insight into PSU options. 2) Use calculators to verify the PSU capacity for your setup, future expansion, and peak loads. 3) Reassess if needed, considering alternative PSU choices.

The CPU cooler isn’t suitable for that CPU... it won’t cope even slightly. Consider a MATX build with solid VRM components.
