You could use GIMP, which is quite similar in capability to Photoshop yet free and open-source.

You can run it inside a window by turning on single-window mode. By the way, I created my profile picture entirely in GIMP. Set the background, added MLG glasses and a hat from the web, drew a potato-like shape, then incorporated the glasses and hat. I animated the hat myself using GIMP’s advanced features like perspective and motion blur. I also worked on the hair. Almost everything was done this way.

Absolutely, GIMP is the way to go. It does take some time to get used to the layout, otherwise buyers might hesitate to switch from Photoshop. P.S.: Switch to Single-Window Mode in the menu.

Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Elements 13 differ mainly in features and capabilities. CS6 offers advanced tools for professional editing, while Elements 13 focuses on user-friendly design with simpler interfaces.

I believe I’ll switch to GIMP, but they need a more contemporary interface.

I misunderstood. You mentioned cropping with GIMP, not cropping something else.

GIMP has its own way of working compared to Photoshop. It’s quite simple once you become comfortable with it. Just remember to switch to single window mode to avoid confusion in the interface.
