I've been using Ubuntu Gnome for a few days and everything seemed fine until I added Steam and some games. That's when my monitor stuck at 4K resolution, and there were no other options in the Ubuntu settings. When I opened the Nvidia Xserver app, I could adjust the resolution, but all listed as Meta Resolutions—shown as Scaled in the dropdown. Selecting any of them made the screen blurry and caused scrolling into empty space when I moved the mouse. I searched extensively over the past 24 hours and tried various fixes like editing xorg.conf, but nothing worked. I really want to switch from 4K to play games with all features enabled. Could you let me know what more information you need? I'm still learning Linux and trying to move away from Windows as much as possible. My system specs are saved in my profile. Here’s a snippet of my current xorg.conf:

# nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
# nvidia-settings: version 352.55 (buildmeister@swio-display-x64-rhel04-15)

Thu Oct 8 15:51:28 PDT 2015Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" Option "Xinerama" "0"
EndSectionSection "Files"EndSectionSection "InputDevice"
# ... (rest of the file)

I added a custom setting but it didn’t help. Now I’m using the latest Nvidia binary, yet the issue remains. If it really matters, I’ve removed Nauvou entirely to install the Nvidia version. Please tell me what else you need.
