I wouldn't remember the Xeon swap. The top 1066 Xeon is comparable to a Q6700. Choose a QX6800 SLACP and move forward.
My computer has a locked BIOS and 1066FSB. 3GHz is just for kids.
The QX6850 also has 1333FSB and will run at 2.4GHz, though it's more affordable if that matters. Same G0 stepping.
If your motherboard has a locked BIOS, use Throttlestop 6.00—it manages voltage and multiplier in Windows.

I've already placed an order for a Q6600; it's not as powerful as I thought, but the TDP is lower which is important to me.
