Adjusting router configurations
Adjusting router configurations
I recently replaced my old router with a new combo unit, but I still can't recall the password. I usually set up by entering the IP address, but I don’t have the old one’s IP. Since both devices are connected to the same router, should I assume they share the same network settings?
Currently, you can reach this via 10.0.0.1 using any web browser. This detail should appear on the label or manual that came with your device.
On PC configure it so the device requests an IP through DHCP, then connect to the desired router. Check the adapter details for the assigned IP. Common options include: 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.254, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254, 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.254
For future use, opening CMD on a router-connected machine and executing ipconfig will display your Default Gateway (router IP). If you lost login info, you can reset the router settings or check default credentials in the manual. Remember that unless you enable bridged mode, all connected devices will appear behind a Double NAT. You won't be able to port forward or run certain games or services on these devices.
1: Reset Factory Settings https://arris.secure.force.com/consumers...tory-Reset
2: Once the restart is done, connect your Ethernet cable to the modem and ensure it receives an IP address through DHCP.
3: Launch a command prompt. Find the "Default Gateway" (the IPv4 address). I’ve highlighted V6 and V4 for your notes.

7: Confirm that you update the default password before proceeding with the task completion.
