Adjusting resolution up or down
Adjusting resolution up or down
I own a high-resolution monitor with a 3840x1080p display. In games such as AC Odyssey, I still use '7680x2160p' with adaptive scaling at 200% resolution. This provides a noticeable improvement over standard 1080p. Based on this, I assume it would appear even sharper on a true 4K or 2160p screen. Now, I've noticed that reducing the actual resolution (keeping the aspect ratio) on a 1080p display to 720p appears poor, whereas on a 1440p monitor the same reduction to 720p still seems reasonable. I understand this because halving the resolution to fit better on smaller screens works better with 1440p. This led me to wonder—does dynamic scaling behave the same way? Dynamic upscaling from 1080p to 2160p looks great, but will it work similarly for a 1440p source? (It should definitely look even better than my current setup.) I'm interested in whether the native resolution matters or not for these adaptive settings. Edited September 20, 2020 by Balletje72
