Current specs: CPU R5 3600X, 32GB RAM (2666Mhz), GPU RX6800, monitor 1440P 170Hz. Consider these options:
1. Purchase 5700X3d for about $192, retaining the motherboard and RAM—likely worth selling the old 3600X for ~$80, adding roughly $112.
2. Upgrade to Zen 5: R5 7500f (available locally) for $170, with a cheap B650 motherboard ($145) and 16GB RAM ($74). You could sell your current setup for $150–$180, requiring an extra $220.
I enjoy upgrading my PC periodically, but the new RX6800 prompted a fresh evaluation of purchases. Hope these ideas help!

I strongly advise against this path if you're planning to upgrade to DDR5. This would imply either using a single stick and sacrificing half your memory speed or opting for two 8GB modules, which would drop performance by roughly 30% (the 8GB sticks actually underperform compared to their 16GB versions). For DDR5, aim for at least 32GB of RAM. I don’t know your country, but from a US perspective this seems quite high. Most 3600s I’ve seen are priced between $40 and $65—about $55 after fees on eBay. If you’re considering these choices, verify the local prices before proceeding. If you’re weighing your options, the 5700X3D is the superior pick. It offers similar performance to the 7500F setup but at roughly half the cost.

In Germany, someone could buy a used 2x16GB 6400MHz CL32 kit for $70-80. I still support that decision. Upgrading to AM4 would cost around $150, while switching to AM5 would require spending $200-250.
