Adjusting performance on an outdated FX 4100
Adjusting performance on an outdated FX 4100
So I could modify the OC settings on my Procc to around 4GHz using this guide here. The issue comes when I attempt to go beyond that, aiming for 4.1 or 4.2 GHz if possible. I don’t encounter any errors, but the PC just shuts down, restarts, and brings me back to the BIOS to reset to earlier settings. Specifications include a M5A97 Evo R2.0 motherboard, an MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3G OC GPU, 8 gigabytes of RAM from various manufacturers, and two TBs of hard drive space. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The CPU performs well at 4.5 with adequate cooling, and the memory is expected to handle overclocking nicely. The memory quality seems questionable and could cause instability. What cooler are you using? What overclock configurations are you aiming for? Apologies for the downvote—I didn’t mean it and can’t change it. Regarding the cooler, I’m currently using a stock model but intend to purchase a high-end Coolermaster. The only stable options I can use right now are 4.0GHZ due to the significant heat output.
Use HWmonitor or speedfan to check temperatures. After increasing the clock speed to 4.2GHz, the temps rose to over 80°C and the PC stopped working, which could be a crash or a heat safety issue. Also, I'm considering a Cooler Master Hyper 212 to manage the temperatures, is it sufficient?
Heat safety guard most likely. What were your voltages?
I own the Evo 212. It's great for its price, though there are definitely superior options.

Could be the top air cooler available.
What is your case fan setup?

I own the Evo 212 – it's good value but there are definitely better options.

Apologies for the delayed responses; internet can be unreliable.
Voltages were stock, and I’m adjusting my CPU fan settings to fix the 212.
