Hello, I've been running my Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (Stock 2.83Ghz) at a 3.4Ghz overclock for five years. The main reason I want to increase the overclock is because newer games... P5E Deluxe Motherboard. My OC target is 3.6Ghz and 3.8Ghz. CPU temperature stays very low, between 25°C and 35°C during gameplay at 3.4Ghz. I could use a bit of help with the BIOS settings. Thanks!

Have you checked the OC stickies for this processor group? You know it can damage your motherboard, as it did with my P5B—quickly, without extra voltage and only a slight overclock. I’m also wondering about it. While browsing the stickies, I didn’t notice anything relevant, but maybe I was looking in the wrong spot. I recently got an old Dell 780 with a Q9550 and GT430 for a budget HTPC and planned to overclock the Q9550 later. Have you tried this?

Have you seen the OC stickies for this processor group?
You know it can damage your motherboard—it did for mine, likely, in just a few seconds without extra power and only a small overclock.

Have you checked the OC stickies for this group of processors? You're right to be concerned—it can really damage your motherboard, like it did with my P5B. It happened in seconds without extra voltage and only a slight OC. How do you know that? I've been running a 3.4Ghz CPU at full speed for five years, and the system still works fine. I use CPUID and Speedfan to keep an eye on things. Plus, I run Prime 95, which is my second computer ;P.

Have you checked the OC stickies for this group of processors? You know it can damage your motherboard, it did for my P5B (probably), in seconds with no extra voltage and only a slight OC. I’m also wondering about it. I didn’t notice anything while browsing the stickies but might have missed it. I just got an old Dell 780 with a Q9550 and GT430 for a budget HTPC and was thinking about overclocking the Q9550 later.
