Hello, I'm a researcher seeking to maximize my machine's computing power. My setup runs at full CPU load (I9 9780x) with 80% RAM (128 GB) continuously for days. The overclocking cap is determined by the temperature of the cooling solution (Noctua NH-D15). I noticed some cores operate cooler than others—can I adjust the core ratio specifically for those? Which CPU are you running? The model number isn't "9780X." Did you mean the 9980XE? What kind of overclocking are you planning? For tasks like this, I wouldn't suggest pushing it too far—otherwise your build could crash due to errors. If you've found something stable for several days at full performance, you're likely close to reaching your limits.

Sorry for the error, I9-7980xe. I'm beginning today's overclocking. Starting from the default settings... I'll move to memory overclocking first. My RAM is 2400MHZ. I've tested XMP at 2666MHZ and it worked fine, and XMP 3000MHZ is also acceptable. Now I plan to increase the core ratio next.

Based on the workload, you can selectively overclock certain cores. Using every core allows full overclocking but increases power usage significantly. The temperature variation occurs because some cores are positioned beneath others, making it difficult for the heatsink to dissipate heat effectively. For your specific tasks, I suggest avoiding intense CPU overclocking. It poses a significant chance of losing valuable compilation time if stability isn't perfect. However, if you're comfortable with the risk, it's ultimately up to you.

Thank you for the feedback. The usual CPU speed is 3.4 GHz, but during my tests I noticed peaks up to 4.1 GHz even with just one core active. After overclocking it reached 3.9 GHz consistently across all cores. The memory was switched to XMP at 3000MHz and no issues occurred over a day of use. Performance improved by about 20%, which is satisfactory. I’m still reviewing the cooling setup, as that seems like an area worth checking.
