I have an FX 8350 and a MSI 970 gaming motherboard. When I adjust the multiplier for overclocking my CPU, my screen turns gray and it starts spazzing out. It doesn’t stabilize even with proper voltage. Also, my tmpin1 (the VRM) used to idle around 35°C, but now it’s at 50°C during gaming and 70-80°C when I’m active. Anyone can help me figure this out before damaging my CPU or motherboard.

If you push your BIOS too high and it gets too hot, you'll need a better cooling solution. Whenever you increase temperatures, it's likely because you're not optimizing properly!

Adjust your multiplier again, check the BIOS update, and verify if your PSU is delivering the needed voltage. Also, ensure you're using the correct RAM for your motherboard.

Also, are you using your mobile device or working within Windows?

@Plumboy I attempted to adjust the multiplier but it continues to perform the same action (also didn't intend to downvote your comment)

When I increase the clock speed in the BIOS, my CPU stays idle at very high temperatures (80°C on a 120mm rad), but with AMD overclocking it causes a gray screen.

don't turn it back up to defaults and start from there as the starting point

Use MSI After Burner with a more stable OC to achieve better settings and a smoother start.

Ah, most enthusiasts will always recommend starting from the BIOS, using afterburner or overdrive often causes problems!

Yeah but even if I go from 4ghz down to 3.9ghz or something even lower it still gray screens and spazzes out, and I though MSI afterburner was only for GPU's, I'll try it later today and see if that works
