Hello! I've been using my PC for some time and am curious about ways to extract more performance. I'm familiar with CPU and GPU overclocking and have done it a few times. I'm interested in RAM-overclocking and would like a simple, beginner-friendly approach—preferably without relying on XMP profiles. I've used the BIOS "Memory try it" tool on my motherboard, but it doesn't let me boot into Windows with any settings. My current RAM is Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 16 GB dual channel, running at 3000MHz via XMP. The rest of the system includes an Intel i9 9900K, a non-overclocked MSI Z390-A Pro board, an ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB RAM, and a Corsair M.2 MP510 cooler.

You’ll benefit more by customizing your 9900k than by trying to fix RAM. RAM can be extremely sensitive and often causes problems in unexpected ways—like data corruption, bizarre BSODs, or random failures you can’t easily trace. Checking its stability is tough and can be frustrating. You might manage it, but the chances of success are low and issues are likely high. I recommend going through this several times until you grasp it, doing thorough research beforehand. Don’t just skim; understand it properly. At that stage, you’ll have a solid base to start experimenting. RAM instability usually shows up differently than CPU issues—often with subtle signs or full system crashes that don’t point clearly to RAM. That’s why I usually steer clear of it. I do it because I like tinkering, but I’m aware the risk is higher compared to a CPU fix. A CPU OC is relatively safe, while RAM isn’t quite the same. The goal was to simplify the process for people trying RAM overclocking. After finding working configurations, you’ll need extensive stability testing, further timing adjustments, and tweaking of RTLs and IOLs. If you stay focused, success is possible. (TWRRD_sg and TWRRD_dg should differ by 4-5, for example, if TWRRD_sg is 28, then dg must be 23)

I have the tRFC on auto during the first boot, but the other part can be handled separately. That's a cool JPEG trick.

Absolutely, it's essential to keep the T-RFC under 400 for optimal performance. This requirement could seem unusual compared to other ICs.
