Adjust your stance and breathing for smoother FPS gameplay.
Original content featuring several images. Common positions most FPS players use are two: crouched and focused, or aiming. Essentially, you trade precision for agility and visibility. In Star Citizen you'll find three options: crouched, ready, and aiming down sight (ADS). The crouched position lets you move quickly but doesn’t let you shoot; it keeps the full HUD visible. Switching to ADS takes time. The ready position is similar to traditional FPS crouches. Shooting feels like drawing from the hip, and you can quickly change to ADS, though it requires slowing down to at least a walking pace. The HUD and sight will be less detailed. ADS offers the highest accuracy but demands a slower pace, making doors and other interactive elements harder to access. Crouched mode activates automatically based on your movement or interaction with the HUD or nearby objects. The ready stance is reached by moving slowly and tapping fire once. ADS functions the same as before, but breathing adds another layer.
Taking a breath is a key tactic—stamina becomes crucial. After a long sprint, your balance weakens and shooting accuracy drops unless you pause. Wearing heavy armor increases stamina use while moving. You can restore it by breathing, walking, standing still, or seeking cover.
Here’s how breathing influences aiming in ADS:
The issue is that lowering is generally available in most FPS games (while running or climbing), but you simply revert to ready automatically. The key point is that you need to manually switch back from lowered to ready.
