Beyond V-sync, the top choice is keeping a high frame rate. I'm using a 970 (similar to the 1060) with a 144Hz display. I usually lower the settings until I hit around 100fps, and screen tearing isn't a big problem for me. What kind of monitor are you using?
V-sync is the sole method to remove tearing in your scenario.
Fast sync performs best when your display refreshes more times per second than the frame rate. In that scenario it behaves similarly to V-Sync but displays the latest frame rendered by the GPU. It doesn’t function properly at lower FPS, causing input lag since it relies on the most recent frame. Unlike Vsync, your actual FPS won’t be limited to fixed values like 30 or 60. For example, with a 45 FPS, you should still see that rate, though some frames may appear twice in every three.
