Hi there. I'm testing this CPU on my MSI A320M Gaming Pro board. I bought an ASUS B450 Prime and want to boost its performance if it's running low on clock cores. I'm using the standard cooler now but also got a Coolermaster Masterliquid M120L V2 AIO. Any suggestions? My RAM setup is dual-channel, 16GB/4GB, 2666MHz OCd up to 2800.
The stock cooler operates loudly yet provides solid performance. Therefore, the AIo isn't significantly superior to it. Consider using the "Ryzen Master" for better results.
Which motherboard do you have? There are a few popular options, but none include "gaming" in the name. The Prime Plus and Prime CSM are available, along with the Prime K. The Asus BIOS offers easy overclocking access, though some budget Asus boards may not handle an 8-core CPU well.
Wow, I haven’t seen such a board in a while with that bare VRM setup. I think a lower core count CPU would be better. Still, pairing the 3600 with the 1700’s stock cooler sounds solid. It should give good cooling for the overclocks you can get, and the downdraft style will push air directly over the VRMs—super helpful since they need maximum cooling support.
