Hello, I set up the build PC and it shows the CPU speed as 2.60GHz, but when turbo boost it reaches 4.4GHz. I’m unsure how to enable that and worry about doing something wrong. My motherboard is an MSI Mag B560M Mortar with Wi-Fi. The BIOS version is E7D17IMS.1B0, built on 11/25/22. Should I flash to a newer BIOS version?

It automatically boosts to 4.4ghz when needed without any manual settings.

The BIOS displays the base clock. When you open Windows and run a benchmark, it should operate at maximum turbo boost speed. If you need to adjust settings in BIOS, turning off power limits might improve performance, though your CPU's current temps suggest cooling may be insufficient.

Sure, just let me know what you'd like to adjust next. If you're changing the turbo setting but can't modify CPU frequency, I can guide you through the steps.

It's secured because you're missing the K version, but you don't have to alter anything to reach 4.4GHz—it will adjust automatically. You can launch a game or run Cinebench, then check Task Manager; under Performance you should notice the boost clock surpassing the base. Your CPU base reads 4.5GHz, yet it's clocking in at 5.16GHz while playing a game.

The CPU you have isn't a K model, so it remains unlocked. For details, visit the Intel website: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...mbers.html. Your motherboard isn't a Z series, which means it doesn’t unlock extra overclocking capabilities. Instead, consider turning off or disabling C states and any current limits you find in the UEFI BIOS—press F7 for Advanced and check CPU settings, which can differ by manufacturer. In Windows, go to Power Options and set the minimum CPU frequency to 100%. You might also try BCLK overclock in the BIOS, but be aware this could lead to system instability as it affects all bus frequencies including RAM, PCI-E, CPU, and M.2 PCI-E speeds.

It's normal for the CPU speed to fluctuate when you open a web browser, even without any software installed. Just keep me informed!
