basically you're using a pretty old laptop with a small display, trying to squeeze more performance by lowering the refresh rate, but you're still facing the issue of everything appearing very large at that resolution.

Another way is to set up a bigger custom resolution, like 1600x900 or 1920x1080. Keep in mind it will appear quite poor on your display.
