I lowered the voltage of my R5 3600 to 1.1V and slowed its clock speed to 4GHz. Now I’m considering bringing it back up to the original 4.2GHz. Is it safe to maintain such a low voltage, or should I increase it? Can I go even lower? Appreciate your advice.

It doesn't matter the voltage level, as long as it remains steady.

Safe operating range is around 1.3V, typically not dropping below 0.95V. Values between that are acceptable; 4.2V could provide extra power if needed.

I understand the concern about temperature effects, but undervolting doesn’t harm the board itself—it’s more about managing performance and heat. The issue isn’t the cause but the symptoms.

The only possibility is that when you attempt to turn on your PC, it won't work. After three attempts it will automatically open BIOS Setup due to an error. Your 3600 is running at 1.18V (1.2V in BIOS) and 4.4GHZ.

What cooler are you using? The original one I got cost 1.17V at 4.2GHz and worked fine. It really comes down to your case cooling setup, room temperature, and the variability of the chips.

I own an Arctic Freezer 34. It seems adequate for a 3600 or better than the built-in cooler. Still, I'm curious if this setup is typical—does the cooler only cover the middle, or is full coverage normal? My current cooling performance isn't great (just two stock coolers and a tiny intake; Bequiet PureBase 500), but I plan to upgrade after Christmas.

Current readings: idle stays near 40-45°C while gaming reaches 60-65°C
