It seems the feature to change desktop brightness isn't available in the current Windows 10 versions (1903 & 1909). On laptops and tablets it works, but on your desktop PCs it's gone—replaced by automatic brightness settings. I’m curious why Microsoft would remove this option. Do you think there’s a way to re-enable it? Thanks for your feedback. Best, -a-

I had never thought it was possible to adjust screen brightness using software on a desktop, only through the monitor directly.

Discover fresh insights with ScreenBright. This tool aligns with DDC/CI standards, ensuring compatibility across most displays. If not supported, verify your OS settings. Let's explore something new together!

Microsoft provides pre-build interfaces for ScreemBright features, while other functionalities depend on deep understanding of the DCC/CI protocol. I began a project but need extra time to complete it. This tool can only manage red, green, and blue colors, not the additional options like Hue, Saturation, Offset or CMY that some displays offer. Many Dell Ultrasharp monitors include software for customizing their settings, which you can install. Unfortunately, these are restricted to certain monitor models. Despite the APIs being available, Windows brightness control only supports the ACPI protocol, which is why it works only on laptops and tablets.

It seems you're unsure about the implications of using ScreenBright. But overall, would you say it's a risky move? Tx-

The issue isn't resolved in my hands. I receive the error "error accessing display."

This happens since your screen doesn't recognize DDC/CI standards or they're turned off in its on-screen settings.

It seems the second choice is likely to disable monitoring in the OSD menu. Your monitor has an older VGA analog input connected via an adapter and functions properly. Could you provide the specific model?

This screen isn't equipped with an OSD menu. It's a Thunderbolt display from Apple.
