Adjust the page file size in GTA V to optimize performance.
Right now Windows manages the page file size for you, but your friend suggested adjusting it to 8192 MB. They also said GTA requires maximum available memory. It's unclear if that's accurate. You can keep it as is or change the size yourself. What do you think? Thanks! Windows : OR Custom :
You'll be fine as it is. The recent GTA V updates brought down memory usage and caching way down it barely uses any RAM now... I do recall that on launch week it used like 12 GB on my machine and it played beatifully without any pop-ins of cars and I could drive off miles away, come back and the bodies and wrecked cars would still be there... Now after recent updates the car wrecks and bodies tend to disapear even if you turn your back on them... pathetic...
I personally avoid using a page file and my system is configured as "No Paging file." I have sufficient physical memory and simply prefer not to rely on it. Although the proper steps are listed below for hard drives: 1) Choose "No Paging file," 2) Restart the computer, 3) Perform disk defragmentation twice, 4) Define a custom size, 5) Match initial and maximum sizes, then restart. After that, your page file will operate smoothly without issues.
You're asking about the difference between an SSD and RAM. SSDs store data quickly, while RAM temporarily holds information for the CPU to access. It's not that one is faster than the other in terms of speed—rather, they serve different purposes. Your SSD will improve overall system performance, but it doesn't replace RAM entirely.
